Earth Week Celebrations

Happy belated Earth Week!

I hope you had a wonderful week celebrating! I had a busy week and haven’t had a chance to update the blog with what I’ve been posting on Instagram. Here’s what you missed if you haven’t been following along there:

Although I know we all like to get out and appreciate nature on this day, for those of us in Ontario things look very different this year. Here are some ways celebrate Earth Day and learn about our beautiful planet while still following the current lockdown regulations! (Even though Earth Day has passed, these can also be environmentally friendly activities to do during lockdown!)

What I Got Up To This Earth Week…

This past week, I’ve been part of a team co-organizing the Earth Week celebrations at my workplace. We kicked off the week with a zero waste workshop from @labelle_eco_life and then ran daily challenges focused on plant-based eating, sustainable swaps/upcycling, resource sharing and even a garbage cleanup challenge! Swipe to see some of the highlights - including a compilation that my coworker made of our submission photos!

I’m sharing because my day to day tasks on the job don’t involve sustainability - this was just a side project we took on as part of our ongoing social events! This is something that anyone can implement at their own workplace, regardless of their job, position, or level of expertise.

It doesn’t need to take a lot of planning or budget to get the conversation going, and it can make a huge impact. With each activity and conversation, I was constantly learning new things from my coworkers and I am feeling very inspired by my team!

If you’re looking for a way to #makeearthdayeveryday, I hope this might inspire you to bring the conversation into your own circles and communities!

I’d love to hear what each of you got up to this earth week - comment and let me know!
