Similar to cauliflower wings, I love this recipe because you can dress it up to your liking and it goes well with so many meals. I made mine more of a pub-style dish and topped it with green onions and spicy mayo sauce, served as a side dish with burgers. I think they could also be really good with ginger and teriyaki sauce to top off a rice bowl or stir fry. The possibilities are endless, and I’m hoping to try more variations soon! How do you like your tofu bites? Let me know!

Baked Tofu Bites

Time: approx. 40 minutes (wait time - min. 1 hour for pressing tofu)
Serving Size: 1 full baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu

  • 1/3 cup of flour (add more as needed)

  • 1/3 cup of oat milk (sub for any plant-based milk)

  • 1 small bowl of Panko bread crumbs

  • 3-5 tbs of vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Green Onions (optional, for topping)

  • Any other seasoning you’d like to add

To Make

  • Press the tofu for at least 1 hour. This is a crucial step, as it will ensure your tofu bites don’t turn into a crumble. For instructions on how to press tofu, check out this tutorial.

  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 - 400 degrees F, depending on your oven.

  • Chop up your tofu into small (approximately 1 inch) cubes.

  • Mix together oat milk, flour, salt, pepper and paprika in a mixing boil. Mix in any other seasoning you might like to add.

  • Fill a medium sized bowl with Panko bread crumbs.

  • Dip each tofu cube into the wet mixture until coated, then dip into the bread crumbs. You may need to top up each mixture as you go.

  • Add the completely coated tofu cubes to a baking sheet. Drizzle oil over top, and mix the cubes with a spatula to spread the oil around.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned, flipping/mixing the cubes every 10 minutes.

  • Remove from oven. Let cool and serve with a sauce of your choice. I used Vegan Spicy Mayo Dip - scroll for recipe!
